Last Minute Beauty Gifts

Best Gift to Splurge on: Send them to the spa We love getting gifts we feel guilty about buying ourselves. For moms, sisters & girlfriends (attention men!), a spa gift is one that will blow them away. But skip the pedicure & manicure & opt for something more fan-tabulous. Go for a shiatsu massage, a wild wrap with fun stuff like seaweed or a deep facial. Better yet, set up the appointment for both of you.

Avoid: Pre-packaged gifts bought at department store beauty counters. Boring, boring. That screams, "I only had 10 minutes so I opted for what was easiest

Best Gift for Your Best Friend Who Lives Far Away: A stocking filled with wrapped gifts Who doesn't love opening little presents? If you have to mail a gift, we suggest wrapping a bunch of products and then packaging them in a stocking.

Some stocking stuffer suggestions:
1. Only beauty editors & rich girls buy themselves Shu Uemura's $20 eyelash curler. Such decadent gifts are fun to get.
2. A purse-sized perfume she's admired.
3. Makeup bags can be picked up in a local boutique (you can't have enough of these).
4. MAC lipsticks are some of the best. Pick a shade you know would flatter her.
5. A set of nice makeup brushes (Sephora has several options).

Avoid: Gift certificates to generic beauty spots like Sephora. Your best friend deserves more of your attention. But feel free to include a gift card in her special stocking!

Best gift to Keep on Hand: Soap bars Another product people love but rarely splurge on are gorgeous bars of French milled soaps. We love to drop by Fresh in the West Village (you can find these stores all over the country) and stock up on bath bars. They're $12 but come in the prettiest packaging. Combined with a beautiful soap dish, it's a great gift to keep on hand in case someone catches you unprepared.

Enjoy,
Lorette
