French manicures

What makes for a great French manicure?

Every so often French Manicures become popular yet again and mistakes are being made. To begin with, French manicures are supposed to be feminine and tasteful. I have been noticing a lot that simply aren't. The idea is there, but they have taken the manicure too far. Some of the nails that I have been seeing lately are strickly from the 80's!

The biggest mistake is painting the white line is too wide. Only a thin strip is supposed to be painted. And the edge is supposed to be curved. If you have square shaped nails, you need the oval shape to soften the look of your hands.

As a manicurist, I have seen many tricks that help create a fabulous manicure. If the french look is for you, then a little acetone on a natural hair brush will help you create a beautiful look. After applying white nail polish to the tip of the nail, dip just the end of a clean brush into acetone. Gently sweep the brush across the nail bed to correct any excess white polish. Be sure to wipe the brush on a paper towel before moving to the next nail. This ensures that you will not leave any traces of white polish behind.

The acetone trick also works with colored nail polish. Simply polish the nail with the desired color. To create the perfect manicure, sweep the acetone dipped brush along the cuticle. This trick cleans up any nail polish that has gone astray. It also makes your manicure look like a professional has painted your nails.

One thing that I been seeing is, french manicure with red tips instead of white. I saw it on a movie actress so you know its going to be out there done by millions if not so already. I thought it look really neat. She had pale pink nails with red tips with white flowers. Its just beautiful..
